The fourth President of Banco Bradesco was born in October 1951 in Marilia, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi. Trabuco Cappi graduated high school early and went to study at the University of Sao Paulo. In Sao Paulo, he graduated with a degree in philosophy.
Luiz was hired by Banco Bradesco in 1969 in Marilia as a clerk, in the same city the first branch was opened. By 2009, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi would become one of the most influential bankers in the company’s history. In 1984 Luiz, by this time had moved to Sao Paulo and was promoted to Director of Marketing. As Marketing Director, Luiz’s influence and power encouraged, and eventually made a permanent change in the bank’s culture. It was Luiz who is credited for ushering in a good relationship with the media.
Luiz moved on in 1992 to become the Executive Director of Bradesco Private Pension, a title he held for six years. Carlos Trabuco Cappi assumed the leadership of Bradesco Seguros (Insurance). Luiz increased the market share of Banco Bradesco’s to 25% as a result increased profits by 11% from 26% – 35%. This increase in profits gained from the increased insurance premiums was an accomplishment Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi was able to take full credit for. It was the success sustained from his leadership in the insurance division solidified him to become the 4th president.
In 2009, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi officially becomes the president. As president, Luiz began restructuring the different levels and departments that make up the huge banking and financial giant. By 2015, during the last years of his presidency, Luiz along with the blessing and support of the Chairman of the Board Lazaro Brandao successfully bought HSBC. The HSBC deal was for $ 5.2 billion and would add 800 new branches to Banco Bradesco. That same year, Money Magazine would name Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi Entrepreneur of the Year.
